During this amazing tour you’’ll discover and wonder a significant part of the huge archaeological and historical stratification of Rome. Starting from the current walking level you’ll descend for about 20 meters exploring a large area of the ancient city still preserved under modern building.
Description
With your dedicated, licensed guide, an archaeologist, this tour starts in St.Clemens Basilica, one of the clearest examples of the stratification of Rome city. After descending about 20 meters. you’ll find the signs of the primitive church, built on the remains of a former Roman house, and the ruins of an ancient Mithraeum.
Then going back to the street level, you’ll reach a second Basilica, dedicated to Saints John and Paul. Among the basements of this church there are about 20 rooms still painted with the original frescoes and located in five different buildings, one of the best preserved Roman residential complexes.

- for people under 16 (16 years included) visiting the area with their parents ticket is free;
- for students under 26 (26 years included) with a valid student identity document ticket is € 5.
For the archaeological area of Roman Houses under the Celio hill
- adults ticket is € 8 ;
- for people between 12 and 18 years old ticket is € 6;
- for people under 12 (12 years included) visiting the area with their parents tickets is free.
If you will be more than 6 people, we do suggest to hire earphones at a cost of €3 per person. Your guide will rent headsets for you.
